It was an alluring afternoon, little sunlight, cold breeze, earthy scent spread due to rains. The perfect environment for a romantic day out. And there we were, sitting at Domino’s, studying permutations and combinations! We were in 12th grade and wanted to study together for the upcoming examinations. However, being from conservative families, we couldn’t find a place to study together. It was then that we found Domino’s as our ‘Adda’! We used to order the Onion and Capsicum pizza and sit there for hours studying and eating the pizza as slow as possible so that we were not asked to leave the restaurant! Ever since then, Domino’s has been a special place for us!
We got good grades and started our journey to become engineers together. It was the beginning of a new journey in a new city. While exploring the city, we spotted a Domino’s restaurant near the college and the smiles across our faces couldn’t have been bigger! Without a second thought, we went to the restaurant and ordered our favorite Onion and Capsicum pizza, cherishing old memories. Be it a birthday celebration, mood swings, or shitty food days in the mess, Domino’s continued to be our go-to place!
I remember in my third year of college; we had a strict deadline for project submission. We had two days’ holidays for Diwali. Due to the project deadline, I decided to stay back at the hostel and complete a significant part of the project. On the evening of Diwali, our mess announced a sudden holiday. My immediate option was to quickly check if Domino’s was open for food delivery. And there it was! Even on the night of the biggest festival in India, Domino’s was operational, spreading lights in people’s lives. I cannot thank Domino’s enough for making my Diwali away from home so homely. There’s no need to mention what we did to celebrate when we cleared the interview at campus placements and received a full-time job offer at the same company.
Our journey evolved over these 8 years, from Onion and Capsicum pizzas to cute fights over which topping and base to choose, from paying the bill from parents’ meal cards to owning our meal cards, from going at the Domino’s restaurant together to sending pizzas to each other in the pandemic. Domino’s has been a constant in our lives! For us, it’s never “let’s go eat pizza”. It’s always “let’s go to Domino’s”. As I finish writing this, I can’t wait to visit Domino’s, order the same old Onion and Capsicum pizza, and relish those past days!
